That’s Just Low! Woman Sets Neighbor’s Home on Fire Over $7 Dispute

A Maryland woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly torching her neighbor’s home in a fiery fit of rage over just $7.

According to Fox Baltimore, the incident occurred on July 3, 2025, when Janice Oney confronted her neighbor and demanded repayment of a $7 debt. When the neighbor reportedly refused, the situation quickly escalated into a heated verbal altercation.

Oney eventually left the property, but not for long.

Police say she soon returned with a bottle of gasoline, poured it on the home, and set it ablaze before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Fortunately, the homeowner was able to extinguish the fire before it spread or caused serious damage. Authorities later recovered surveillance footage from a nearby business, which showed Oney carrying out the act. The footage led directly to her arrest.

She has since been booked on multiple charges, including:

No injuries were reported, and the home did not sustain irreparable damage, but the incident has left neighbors stunned.

“All this over seven dollars? She could’ve waited until payday,” one resident commented.

The case highlights how minor disputes can spiral dangerously out of control when tempers flare.
