Actor and comedian Nick Cannon, the father of 12 children with six women, opened up in a candid interview about a woman from his past he wished he could have procreated with.
During the conversation with Thembi Mawema, the 42-year-old revealed that there was one that got away – an old flame he worked with in the 2003 movie, Love Don’t Cost a Thing.
“Is there anyone who you dated in the past that you were like ‘You know what, I wish we would have had a baby’?” Mawema asked Cannon during an episode of Stepping Into the Shade Room.
“I know [this] is going to go viral,” he replied. “When Christina Milian and I were doing Love Don’t Cost A Thing,’ I remember when I found out she was pregnant. Did I have kids yet? I don’t know, but I was like, dang man.”
“That could have been me?” Mawema interrupts.
“Yeah yeah yeah,” Cannon responded. “I was so happy for her. I remember we was kids in love early on, and so we talked about that, but to each his own. Life plans it out. The universe gives it how it’s supposed to be given.”
Cannon and Milian dated briefly shortly after working together on the movie, but they parted ways when Milian discovered Cannon was cheating on her. She would later go on to date and then marry hit music producer The-Dream, with whom she shares a child named Violet. She gave birth to her in 2009.
Meanwhile, Cannon would go on to have multiple children with several women. The San Diego native has opened up about how hard it is being the father to all of his children in the past.
“Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children,” he said on an episode of The Checkup with Dr. David Agus. “I’m constantly working and two because I’m just spread thin. … I love all of my children. I’m grateful to all of their mothers for working with my crazy life.”
