Jessika’s groundbreaking journey commenced when she embarked on a five-year Law degree at the University of London. Using Braille, a tactile writing system, she tackled her coursework, deciphering the intricacies of the legal field through raised dots.
With unwavering determination, the support of friends, and guidance from her tutors, Jessika completed her degree, marking the first milestone in her groundbreaking career.
Despite the adversity of complete blindness due to Bilateral microphthalmia, a condition characterized by smaller-than-usual eyes, Jessika remained undaunted. Throughout her studies, she encountered challenges and faced prejudices, including racist attitudes from prison officials who frequently underestimated her abilities. Yet, Jessika remained resolute, firmly believing that her blindness should not curtail her ambitions.
“From the very beginning, I always believed in myself; there’s nothing about me that suggests this isn’t possible,” Jessika declared.
