This Is Crazy! Woman Shot Dead While Working at Detroit Hospital by Ex-Husband

by Gee NY

A Detroit community is in mourning after 40-year-old Latricia Brown, a Henry Ford Hospital employee, was fatally shot Friday morning, Aug. 22, in the hospital’s basement by her ex-husband, according to police.

The incident occurred just before 10 a.m., when Mario Green, 53, allegedly confronted Brown in the lower level of the hospital and opened fire following a verbal altercation. Police said Brown was struck multiple times and died at the scene.

Authorities revealed that Brown had filed for a personal protection order against Green only a month earlier, but it was never served. Detroit Assistant Police Chief Charles Fitzgerald described the tragic connection, saying the unserved order “almost brings us here today.”

After the shooting, Green fled the hospital in a white 2011 Dodge Charger, last seen heading north on the Lodge Freeway around 9:55 a.m.

He was wearing all black with a gold chain, police said. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison warned that Green should be considered armed and dangerous.

Michigan State Police released surveillance images of Green and his vehicle as part of the manhunt. Authorities say he has ties to Bloomfield Hills and stands approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall.

Hospital and Community Response

Henry Ford Health confirmed the victim’s identity in a statement, calling Brown a valued teammate:

“We are devastated by the loss of our Henry Ford Hospital teammate and our hearts go out to her loved ones — her family, friends, and the people she worked with every day. We are providing resources to our team members who are dealing with the impacts of this tragic incident. The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and team members is our greatest priority.”

The hospital briefly closed in the aftermath of the shooting but has since reopened. Detroit police explained that there is no longer an active threat at the facility.

A Pattern of Domestic Violence

Brown’s killing adds to a troubling pattern of domestic violence-related homicides that often occur despite legal protections. Advocates say the failure to serve protective orders leaves many victims vulnerable, highlighting gaps in enforcement.

Police continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and contact authorities with any information regarding Green’s whereabouts.
