Grammy-winning songwriter Tiffany Red is fighting for musicians to rightly give publishing credits to people who write their songs for them.

The Founder of 100 Percenters, a nonprofit organization, has upped her advocacy for songwriters; this time, she mentioned names.

Tiffany explained that she had to walk away from the music business after over seventeen years of active songwriting.

Tiffany Red started her crusade by fingering Beyonce, whom she calls the Michael Jackson of the generation, as one of the most prolific culprits of writing theft.

She accused the Renaissance singer of getting rich off lyrics that others had written.

“When I think about how many songwriters have written for this woman whose power has been taken. Then it made me think about this song, ‘Break My Soul’… And then I think of how many song writer’s souls have been broken as this woman (Beyonce) is taking the publishing, which is the only thing they have,” Tiffany Red added.

The American songwriter also detailed how other workers on a project, like the engineers and producers, get paid upfront while writers are left short-handed in the equation.

She added that writers are being exploited in the industry, and many end up broke.

“The reason I called out Beyonce is that Beyonce is the Michael Jackson of our generation,” Tiffany continued. “And so if there is anybody that could reshape the precedence, influence the industry, had the power and the money and the cultural power that can say, you know what, you’re right.”

The songwriter activist slammed fans who tried to make excuses for their favs who have taken advantage of writers and ‘stolen’ publishing credits.

“It’s not propaganda. The reality is there is no A-list artist, B-list artist, or C-list artist who is not taking publishing. That is the way the music industry works. And to deny that is delusional.

“You should not have a gatekeeper on your team to make a living off music that is making people billionaires. The Grammys don’t pay the bills. Those plaques do not pay the bills. There are people with Grammy plaques who can’t pay their rent.

“Publishing is my only source of income,” Tiffany Red added.
