A recent video of singer Tyla seemingly running away from Usher during a performance has gone viral, sparking a wave of reactions and debates online.

During a live performance, the South African singer was caught on camera quickly dodging Usher’s attempt to grind on her.

This isn’t the first time Usher’s dance moves have made headlines during a live performance.

A year ago, Usher and Keke Palmer were on the chopping block for engaging in what many fans believe Tyla avoided by not dancing too close to Usher.

Usher and Keke lit up social media when a clip of them slow-dancing during his show while he serenaded her with his 2010 track “There Goes My Baby” hit the internet.

Palmer’s boyfriend, Darius Jackson, joined the conversation by criticizing her outfit—a sheer dress and black bodysuit—on Twitter, writing, “It’s the outfit, though…you a mom.”

Jackson’s remark drew immediate criticism, but he stood by it in another tweet, writing, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife and mother to his children to show off booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is.”

Although both Keke Palmer and Usher denied any ulterior motives behind the dance, the internet chatter was fierce, and maybe this was what Tyla wanted to avoid.

The video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Usher attempting to pull off one of his signature smooth moves by getting close to Tyla. On the other hand, Tyla had other ideas—she took a graceful but noticeable step back as if avoiding the sensual dance move.

Fans reacted quickly to the hilarious interaction, praising Tyla’s quick-thinking.

Usher’s Past Present Future tour, which began in August with two sold-out shows in Washington, D.C., lived up to its name as the king of R&B left the city wrapped in a warm blanket of nostalgia and euphoria.
