Whoopi Goldberg Weighs in on SCOTUS Abortion Rights Debate: ‘Men Shouldn’t Talk About What a Fetus Wants’

by Shine My Crown Staff

During an episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg last out at over members of the Supreme Court in favor of upholding a severe anti-abortion law that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

The U.S. Supreme Court is currently in the middle of ongoing oral arguments about a Mississippi law that overturns Roe v. Wade. The ban essentially criminalizes abortions after 15 weeks.

Justice Samuel Alito made remarks this week that “the fetus has an interest in having a life.”

Goldberg says it is not his place.

“Do any of you men have any eggs or the possibility of carrying a fetus? How dare you talk about what a fetus wants,” Whoopi said. “You have no idea.”

While Goldberg feels people are within their rights not to agree with abortion, she believes that’s where the argument should end.

“My problem comes when you tell me what I need to do with my doctor and my family. How dare you. How dare you,” she said.

Co-host Sara Haines then chimed in, saying that she objected to Chief Justice John Roberts asking why 15 weeks wasn’t enough time to choose to abort.

“What he said, you know, that amount of weeks is arbitrary, it’s not,” Haines said. “To me this is the difference and why viability matters. You’re choosing between two lives. There’s a mother and a fetus. When the baby – or when the fetus is able to live outside of the mother, when it’s viable, that becomes equal ground. To me the mother should be put first until that baby can survive outside.”

Sunny Hostin is opposed to abortion and says that as a Catholic, she believes a child’s life begins at conception, although she would “never confuse church and state” and wouldn’t force her beliefs on others.
