A woman named Zhanae has gone viral after claiming to be singer Victoria Monét’s half-sister. The revelation came in response to a social media post Monét shared about their alleged father.
On Wednesday, June 26, Zhanae made her claims on X (formerly Twitter) and provided more details via TikTok two hours later. Victoria Monét has not yet responded to the allegations.
The incident began with a post Monét made on June 16, celebrating her “first” Father’s Day with her dad, accompanied by a photo of them together. Monét expressed her joy and healing in the post.
Zhanae responded to the post, expressing her own hurt. She revealed that she hasn’t seen their father, Anthony Detamoore, for 20 years. Her response quickly gained traction, amassing over 8.2 million views and numerous comments and reposts.
“I’m glad you got a chance to meet him finally. I’m 23 and haven’t seen him for 20 years. Wow, ANTHONY DETAMOORE! So Victoria Monét is my half-sister?” Zhanae wrote, adding sad-face emojis.
Some replies accused Zhanae of being out of line, but she defended her decision to speak out, saying she was happy for Monét but also wanted her own story to be heard.
She stated that she had tried to reach out to their father when she was younger but was met with disinterest.
In a TikTok video, Zhanae shared more details about her upbringing, explaining that her stepfather raised her and she last saw her biological father when she was three years old for only 20 minutes. She expressed her frustration that their father never reached out to her on birthdays or holidays.
Despite her disappointment with their father, Zhanae reiterated that she was happy Monét got a chance to spend time with him. She believes their father will never receive his full blessings because of his selective parenting.
Victoria Monét has not publicly commented on Zhanae’s claims.
