Established in 2004, The Lady Mechanic Initiative (LMI) has been a beacon of hope for vulnerable girls and women across Nigeria.
Headquartered in Lagos but with a global outlook, LMI goes beyond just teaching car repair; it provides a pathway to a better life for those who have been marginalized by society.
LMI’s programs target women from disadvantaged backgrounds, offering them comprehensive hands-on training in auto mechanics, electrician work, professional driving, and other technical skills.
But it doesn’t stop there. Recognizing the importance of employability and personal development, LMI also provides education in customer care, communication, financial management, and more.
Sandra’s journey to becoming a trailblazer in the automotive industry started at the age of 13. Despite facing discouragement from her father, she persisted, gaining valuable skills at a garage and technical college.
Now, with 36 years of experience under her belt, Sandra runs her own shop in Lagos while tirelessly working towards her goal of training 100,000 women.
