An 18-year-old mother identified as Shania Green has been found dead at a house party in Lawrenceville, Georgia, just a month after celebrating her 18th birthday.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday (Dec 29), drawing the attention of the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Responding to a call about a potential shooting, officers arrived at the local residence to find what appeared to be a house party in progress.

Upon clearing the premises, they discovered the lifeless body of Shania Green on what seemed to be a back patio, with signs indicating a possible gunshot wound to the head area, as stated in a news release from the department.

According to reports from WANF, witnesses in the neighborhood observed a commotion as several young individuals attempted to leave the subdivision in their cars after the sound of gunshots.

The party, reportedly hosted by the homeowner’s son, took place while the homeowner was away.

Shania Green, who turned 18 in November, leaves behind a 7-month-old son.

A GoFundMe campaign initiated by her aunt, Sade Long, aims to gather donations for the expenses associated with Green’s service and burial.

The campaign, which has seen an outpouring of support, recounts Green’s excitement about finally getting to enjoy some time out.

Long described Shania as a “wonderful daughter, mother, sister, granddaughter, and niece” with an infectious smile, positive energy, and a deep love for her family.

As of now, the police have not identified any suspects in the case and are urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist in the investigation.

The Lawrenceville community is left in shock and mourning as they grapple with the tragic loss of a young life.
