Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who represents Texas’ 30th District, shared a powerful message about the current political climate during an appearance on Keke Palmer’s BabyThisisKekePalmer podcast.
In a candid conversation, Crockett, a former public defender, addressed the concerning rhetoric from former President Donald Trump and the GOP, expressing her belief that their policies and statements are pushing America backward into a more racially exclusive and divisive society.
“We’ve seen the browning of America,” Crockett said, referencing the results of the most recent census, which showed a notable decline in the percentage of white Americans.
She explained that the pushback against immigrants, Black history education, and the affirmative action decision all point to a troubling agenda: a desire to return to an era of white supremacy.
According to Crockett, this rhetoric is not just about politics—it’s about reclaiming power and influence at the expense of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“All of these things are saying, well… ‘we got to get back to white supremacy’,” Crockett noted. “And so they’re trying to take us back.”
Her comments came amid growing fears about a cultural divide within the nation, one that pits those who embrace America’s diverse identity against those pushing for a more homogenous, exclusionary vision.
Crockett praised Vice President Kamala Harris for consistently rejecting these regressive ideologies.
The congresswoman continued by stating the importance of diversity in the U.S. identity, calling it a “beautiful mosaic” that reflects the nation’s rich cultural fabric.
She argued that while the country may be divided, it is vital for Americans to recognize the strength in that diversity and continue to push for a more inclusive future.
Crockett’s words reflects the ongoing debates surrounding immigration, racial justice, and affirmative action and the suggestion that they are more than policy discussions—they are battles over America’s very soul.
