In a recent interview, Deb Antney revealed a shocking detail about her relationship with rapper Nicki Minaj. Antney confessed that she once turned down a $5 million offer to sever ties with Minaj.
The legendary music executive and powerhouse manager recently dropped a bombshell revelation during her appearance on the Ray Daniels Presents podcast.
Antney, who is well-known for her instrumental role in shaping some of the biggest careers in hip-hop, opened up about a $5 million offer she received to disown her former protégé, Nicki Minaj.
Deb Antney, who also happens to be Waka Flocka Flame’s mother, took Nicki under her wing during the early stages of the rapper’s career. At the time, Nicki was a rising artist trying to establish herself in a male-dominated rap industry.
Under Antney’s management company, Mizay Entertainment, Nicki Minaj polished her brand and gained attention for her unique style and bold personality.
During this period, Nicki released her breakout mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty, which featured hits like “I Get Crazy.” The mixtape garnered her significant recognition, solidifying her spot as a rapper to watch.
In 2010, Nicki made the difficult decision to part ways with Antney’s management and later signed with Young Money Entertainment under Lil Wayne’s guidance.
While the split marked a turning point in Nicki’s career, it sparked rumors of tension between the two. Deb Antney publicly expressed her disappointment but maintained that she would always love and support Nicki.
And she has not defaulted on her promise, not even with a $ 5 million offer on the table.
During her appearance on the Ray Daniels Presents podcast, Antney made it clear that her loyalty to Nicki was never for sale. “They offered me five million to get away from Nicki. I needed that five million dollars,” she disclosed. “But you can’t pay me enough. I never got a splinter out of life, but that’s my kid. That’s my child.
“It doesn’t matter. She can talk about me. She can say whatever she wants. She can do whatever she wants to do,” she added.
Antney also shared some individuals in the industry were shocked by her presence alongside Nicki during tours and events.
“People were so shocked to see me. They didn’t want me on that tour with her,” she said. “They were so shocked, and some people couldn’t understand.”
She continued, “You better understand why she could get away with murder with me. I will let you speak certain things to me. Do certain things to me. Because I don’t [mess] about Nicki Minaj. I don’t play games. I love her too much.”
Antney revealed that her protectiveness stems from how “fragile” she sees Nicki, adding, “There are things that I can’t even do with her. I can’t say or knock her down the way I want to knock her down because she’s so fragile to me.”
