Candace Owens, once one of President Donald Trump’s most loyal defenders, is now voicing deep frustration over his handling of the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.
Owens is accusing the president of blatant hypocrisy and abandoning the anti-interventionist promises that defined his previous campaigns.
In a recent video on her podcast on YouTube that has since gone viral, Owens criticized Trump’s shifting narratives and militaristic rhetoric, calling his recent social media posts “stunning” and “inconsistent.”
“What does he think? We’re stupid?” Owens asked, reacting to Trump’s celebratory tweet declaring, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”
The conservative commentator pointed out that Trump initially claimed the U.S. was uninvolved in Iran’s internal conflict, then contradicted himself by boasting about American military strength in the region.
“First, he says we had nothing to do with it. Then he says he didn’t know about the attack, then that he did. And now he’s tweeting we like it’s a joint operation,” Owens said, clearly exasperated.
Owens expressed concern over Trump’s abandonment of his non-interventionist stance, calling out his rhetoric for sounding more like the “neocons” he used to criticize. She also took aim at MAGA loyalists, like Laura Loomer, for encouraging supporters to silence dissent.
“You better start capturing Donald Trump’s tweets,” Owens said. “Because they seem pretty against Donald Trump’s ideas of yesteryear.”
The comments mark another rare public rift between Owens and Trump. In April, Owens surprisingly voiced her support for Harvard University during what has been dubbed a free speech battle with the Trump administration.
Once a key MAGA influencer, Owens now joins a growing group of right-wing figures questioning the former president’s consistency on issues of war, peace, and foreign intervention, among other issues.
Her critique highlights broader concerns among some conservatives who say Trump is drifting from the core policies that earned him grassroots support in 2016 and 2024, particularly his pledges to keep the U.S. out of foreign conflicts.
