Halle Bailey is entering a main character energy with her upcoming debut solo album, “Love? …Or Something Like It.”

On October 8, the star of The Little Mermaid revealed that her debut album, titled Love? …Or Something Like It, is set to release on October 24 through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.

Hale Bailey describes the album as a narrative exploring first love, heartbreak, and everything that follows. It’s not merely a collection of songs. It’s more like a personal diary.

In a 38-second teaser shared online, Halle appears in a striking red tulle gown, narrating her own love story, akin to that of a contemporary princess turned poet. She begins softly: “Once upon a time, there was a young girl that believed in love. She believed everyone belonged to someone, soul for soul… All she ever wanted in life was to find the truest form of love. Was it ever possible? And here’s what happened.”

The vibe is moody and cinematic, capturing heartbreak within a fairy tale atmosphere. Fans are already gearing up for the emotional journey she’s about to take them on.

Up to this point, Halle has released two singles from the album: “Back and Forth” and “Braveface,” both showcasing her vulnerability and emotional transparency. Earlier this year, she collaborated with Leon Thomas on a track called “Rather Be Alone,” hinting at her more mature and soulful side.

While Halle’s solo venture may seem brand new, she has been honing her artistry for nearly a decade alongside her sister Chloe at Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment. The duo’s albums, The Two of Us (2017), The Kids Are Alright (2018), and Ungodly Hour (2020), garnered five Grammy nominations and developed a devoted fan base that has witnessed their transformation from teenage talents into accomplished artists.

Now, it’s Halle’s moment to shine solo, and October 24 can’t come soon enough.
