An 81-year-old Missouri woman, Fannie Allred, was violently killed in her home just before the New Year, leaving family and neighbors in shock as authorities investigate the fatal attack and arrest her grandson.
According to charging documents and police reports, Allred was found stabbed six times in the head, neck and chest at her residence in St. Louis County on Dec. 28, 2025.
People reports that officers who responded after a family member discovered her unresponsive body also found that her two French bulldogs had been stabbed, though both dogs are expected to survive.
Allred’s 37-year-old grandson, Ronald Allred, was identified as the suspect after he was seen at the home earlier that morning and had reportedly spent the night there.
He fled the scene but was later located by police at a gas station, where a standoff lasting about two hours ensued before he was taken into custody. Prosecutors charged him with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, two counts of animal abuse, and additional counts of resisting arrest.
During a police interview, Allred reportedly confessed to the stabbing, according to court records. He is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 26, 2026.
Family and neighbors described Fannie Allred as a cherished matriarch and active community member. She was a cancer survivor and worked at the Northwest Rehab Center, where colleagues remember her kindness and generosity. Neighbors told local news outlets she was well-known in the area, often greeting others on walks and attending church every Sunday.
“She felt like family… one of the kindest souls you could ever meet,” said a long-time neighbor.
The stabbing and subsequent standoff have stunned the local community, drawing attention not only due to the brutality of the crime but also because of the involvement of a family member as the suspect.
