A newly released poll suggests Democratic U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett could have a strong path to victory in Texas’ upcoming U.S. Senate race, outperforming other potential challengers in a hypothetical general election against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
The survey, conducted by Hart Research, found Crockett — a Dallas-area Democrat — leading Paxton in a head-to-head matchup for the Senate seat currently held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn.
Paxton, however, is still polling ahead of Cornyn in the Republican primary, which analysts say is likely headed toward a runoff.
In a statement responding to the poll, Crockett stated her political track record and voter support.
“I’ve been doing the work and fighting on behalf of Texans since before I entered this race,” she said. “Voters know my leadership and trust me to fight for them.”

Democratic Primary Tightens
Crockett is currently facing a competitive Democratic primary contest against Texas state Rep. James Talarico of Austin. Talarico has recently gained national visibility, including an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which boosted both his public profile and campaign fundraising.
According to the poll, voters remained largely unmoved by potential negative campaign messaging tested in the survey, suggesting Crockett’s support could hold steady even amid attack ads.
Crockett’s campaign highlighted strong backing among Latino voters, younger voters, independents, and working-class Texans as key factors driving her competitiveness statewide.
Republican Race and Endorsements
On the Republican side, Paxton is seeking to strengthen his position with backing from Turning Point USA’s political action arm, Turning Point Action.
A new campaign advertisement features praise from conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who endorsed Paxton before his death last year, calling him an “American patriot” and a strong defender of constitutional values.
Paxton said the endorsement reinforces his campaign message focused on conservative priorities and national political issues.
Race Seen as High Stakes
Political analysts view the Texas Senate race as one of the most closely watched contests of the upcoming election cycle, with the outcome potentially reshaping the balance of power in Washington.
If Crockett secures the Democratic nomination and maintains current polling trends, strategists say the race could become one of the most competitive Senate battles in Texas in years.
