Angela Simmons has officially confirmed that her high-profile relationship with rapper Yo Gotti is over.
In a candid and emotional interview on Angie Martinez’s IRL Podcast, the 37-year-old entrepreneur and reality star finally opened up about the split, revealing that although it wasn’t the ending she wanted, it was the choice she had to make.
“Not by choice,” Angela admitted when asked if she was back in her single-girl era. “But I respect him.”
The conversation turned reflective as Martinez pointed out what many fans have been thinking: Yo Gotti publicly pursued Angela for years. His 2016 hit “Down in the DM” was practically a love letter to her. When he finally got the girl in 2022, it felt like a fairy tale. One that included luxury vacations, matching outfits, and rumors of an engagement after Angela was seen rocking a diamond ring in late 2024.
But fairy tales don’t always have forever endings.
“I had to make a decision,” Angela explained, choosing her words carefully. “I can publicly say that I’m not with him anymore. But as far as details, I would just never. I’m just not that girl.”
She emphasized that it wasn’t an easy move and made it clear that the breakup didn’t come from a place of drama or bitterness.
“It’s all love,” she said, noting that she still respects Gotti and wishes him well.
The breakup ends a three-year romance that many saw as a relationship goal. From lavish birthday gifts, including Hermès Birkin bag and luxury watch, to red carpet appearances and a starring role in Gotti’s 2023 music video “No Fake Love,” Angela and Gotti were once the couple everyone was rooting for.
But in hindsight, fans may have missed the signs. Earlier this year, Angela posted a cryptic message on Instagram that read:
“I want. What wants me in life. In all areas. What flows FLOWS. What goes GOES.”
Now, that caption reads less like a quote and more like a goodbye.
Still, Angela is keeping it graceful. She didn’t share the reasons behind the split, and she made it clear she won’t.
