Baby Tate revealed she regrets getting pregnant before marriage. The “I Am” rapper shocked fans on June 11 with a joyful pregnancy reveal, sharing ultrasound photos and the name of her baby girl, Blair.

Her post was filled with love from artists like Chlöe, Kaliii, and Monaleo, but not everyone came to celebrate. Until one critic took a jab at her with a tweet that read: “I don’t want to be that person but like another pregnancy without a ring.”

Baby Tate opened up.

“I cried when I found out I was pregnant,” she tweeted. “Not because I didn’t want to have a baby, but because I was sad that I wasn’t married yet.” She explained that she had envisioned a different timeline. A ring before a baby. A wedding before motherhood. But life clearly had other plans.
“God’s plan is bigger than mine,” she added. “If my baby wants to be at my wedding, imma just let my baby be at my wedding!”

Of course, the internet had a field day. Critics flooded in with unsolicited opinions, dissecting her personal choices as if they were a debate topic. But Baby Tate didn’t budge. Her next tweet said: “I’m SO happy and so blessed & have grown soooo much! Blair is already making me a better person, and I can’t wait to meet my little one. Nothing & no one can take that joy! & My peace will always outweigh a think piece.”

When Baby Tate entered the music industry, she was known as Yung Baby Tate. Inspired by her Atlanta roots, her musical works draw influences from artists like Gucci Mane and Ciara, as well as fellow Georgians such as Ludacris. Before signing with a major label in 2021, Baby Tate was affiliated with Issa Rae’s label, Raedio, a deal she secured after standing out among other participants in a songwriter camp led by the actress. This collaboration provided the emerging artist with the chance to further develop her brand, surrounded by supportive mentors and fellow people of color, which prepared her for her major record contract with Warner Records.
