Cardi B has revealed a harrowing ordeal that nearly turned tragic. The “Bodak Yellow” singer took to social media to share her terrifying experience of being hospitalized after a “freak accident” that put her pregnancy in jeopardy.
Cardi B announced on August 1 that she is pregnant with her third child, posting photos of herself in a flowing red gown that reveals her baby bump on social media.
The 31-year-old revealed the news just hours after filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Migos rapper Offset.
Cardi expressed her gratitude in a heartfelt caption for this new chapter in her life. “With every ending comes a new beginning!” she wrote, capturing the love and new sense of power her pregnancy has given her. The I Like It artist stressed that this experience taught her that she could “have it all” without sacrificing her passions.
Cardi also addressed the challenges of motherhood, saying, “It’s so much easier to take life’s twists, turns, and tests lying down, but you, your brother, and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through.”
Cardi B’s pregnancy announcement comes just one day after she filed for divorce from Offset, her husband of six years. A representative for the Bodak Yellow rapper confirmed to PEOPLE that the divorce is “not based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.”
Cardi B revealed that she was hospitalized after sharing the news of her third pregnancy, describing the incident as a “freak accident.”
The Bronx rapper clarified the gravity of her injuries, revealing that they were severe enough to necessitate her taking Morphine. During the conversation, Cardi explained that the incident happened on August 3.
“Guys, I just got home yesterday,” Cardi B disclosed. “I was in the hospital for like 2 or 3 days, and now that I’m back at home, I’m in a lot of pain. I got into a little freak accident. I don’t even know how the f*** it happened, but I injured myself, and I had a real bad scare.”
She continued, “Thank God that when I had the freak accident, my dad was here. We didn’t think it was going to be a big issue, but it became a big issue. Yesterday, I thought I was feeling better when I got sent home from the hospital, but I was still on Morphine, and now that I’m home and I just woke up today, woah, I’m in pain.”
The singer revealed that the accident nearly resulted in a miscarriage, stating, “And that little thing almost cost me my little one to come.” But it didn’t. Yesterday, I felt good. I came home, but I was as high as a kite.
Cardi B admitted to feeling sober and threatened to go to the hospital if she didn’t feel better within four hours.
