Ciara, the multi-talented singer, dancer, and philanthropist, has unveiled a unique opportunity for dancers nationwide with her latest initiative, “Dance Icon.”
This online dance competition, created in partnership with Colossal, offers a life-changing prize: $20,000 and a featured appearance in Ciara’s upcoming music video.
A Platform for Rising Stars
The “Level Up” singer, 39, designed the competition as a way to spotlight emerging talent while uniting the global dance community.
“I identify with the power of dance and how it inspires others,” Ciara shared in an exclusive statement. “Amazing things happen when the dance community unites, and I’m looking forward to seeing the impact we can create together.”
How It Works
Registration is open to dancers aged 13 and above. Voting kicks off on Monday, February 3, 2025, and runs through Friday, April 18, 2025.
Voters can cast a free vote every 24 hours, with additional votes available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the Why Not You Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Ciara and her husband, NFL star Russell Wilson, which supports equal access to education, children’s health, and food security.
Weekly eliminations will narrow the field to eight finalists, who will travel to Scottsdale, Arizona, for a live dance-off judged by Ciara and her longtime choreographer, Jamaica Craft.
Ciara’s Dance Legacy
Ciara is no stranger to the world of dance. From her breakout single “Goodies” in 2004 to her Grammy-winning collaboration on Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control,” her career has been defined by electrifying performances.
She has also earned three Soul Train Awards for Best Dance Performance.
“Dancing allows me to express my truest creative self,” Ciara said, adding, “Whether fast or slow, whenever I start to dance, I feel something special happening.”
