Daycare Owner In Big Trouble After Leaving Five Children in Hot Car While Shopping

A Houston daycare owner is facing serious legal consequences after police say she left five children unattended in a hot car while she went grocery shopping.

Dominique Wilson, owner of My Lil Angels daycare, which she reportedly runs from her apartment on Stone Street, was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with five counts of child endangerment in Harris County. Each charge carries a $10,000 bond.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of a Kroger store on Telephone Road around noon, as temperatures reached 91 degrees. According to Houston police, Wilson took her two biological children inside the store but left five other children, believed to be daycare clients, in her vehicle for approximately 40 minutes.

Witnesses called police after noticing the children in visible distress, crying, red-faced, and appearing overheated. Thankfully, authorities say the children are now doing well and did not require hospitalization.

One concerned neighbor, Nyleh Peters, expressed shock over the allegations:

“There is obviously no excuse. It’s super hot in Houston. I wouldn’t even leave my dog in the car, so I don’t know what she was thinking.”

According to the Texas Health and Human Services website, Wilson is a state-licensed childcare provider with no prior violations; her last inspection was in April 2025.

However, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) has now launched an investigation into possible abuse or neglect. A DFPS spokesperson confirmed:

“DFPS is investigating whether or not abuse or neglect occurred in this case. Findings from our investigation will be turned over to the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), the state agency that licenses and regulates daycares in Texas.”

Wilson is expected back in court on Oct. 15, where she will face questions about her conduct and the continued viability of her daycare license.
