Jessica L. Brown, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a graduate of Howard University, is making waves in the world of higher education.

As the founder of College Gurl and president of The College Gurl Foundation, Brown is committed to helping students—particularly those from underserved communities—navigate the financial complexities of higher education. Her dedication is ensuring that students across the nation have access to the resources and knowledge needed to pursue a college education.

One of her most impactful initiatives is the annual HBCU college bus tour, which takes students from Washington, D.C., to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country.

The College Gurl Foundation’s Fall 2023 College Tour allowed students to visit prominent institutions like Elon University, Winston-Salem State University, and Clark Atlanta University.

Beyond just academic exposure, the tour provided cultural and professional enrichment through stops at key locations such as Atlanta City Hall, Tyler Perry Studios, and SpelHouse Homecoming.

The foundation’s mission is more than just introducing students to higher education; it is about empowering them to break generational cycles and fostering lasting social change within their communities.

Jessica Brown’s work doesn’t stop at college tours. As a renowned financial aid expert, she advocates for educational equality and helps students make informed decisions about financing their education. Her impact has been felt nationwide, with appearances on major media outlets such as Good Morning America, MSNBC, The Tamron Hall Show, and FOX Business Network.

In a promotional video, Brown stated:

“I represent helping students around the nation understand how to make the best informed decisions on paying for college, additionally advocating for students to have educational equality.”

Brown’s work, particularly her dedication to promoting educational opportunities for students of color, is creating pathways to success for future generations, ensuring that they are well-equipped to pursue their dreams and create lasting change.
