Family Demands Answers After 6-Year-Old Girl Found Dead In Pool During School Field Trip

The family of 6-year-old Victoria King, a first grader from Paulding County, Georgia, is demanding answers after the little girl tragically died during a school field trip last week.

Victoria, a student at McGarity Elementary School, was attending a class outing to Carlton Farms in Rockmart, Polk County, when she was discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool on the property. According to authorities, a staff member noticed Victoria was missing around noon on Wednesday before she was later found in the pool. Officials have not yet confirmed the specific location of the residence where the tragedy occurred.

The heartbreaking loss has sent shockwaves through the local community — and left Victoria’s family desperate to understand how the outing turned fatal.

In a statement shared with 11 Alive, Victoria’s relatives said they are “still in deep grief and struggling with unanswered questions.”

They say school officials have not explained how staff lost track of the child, how she accessed the pool, or how long she was there before being found. The family stressed that the pool was not part of the planned field trip and questioned why it was accessible and unsupervised.

“The family does not understand how a swimming pool on the same property as the field trip was left accessible to students and unguarded,” the statement read.

Adding to their heartbreak, the family said no one from McGarity Elementary School has personally reached out to express condolences. While the broader school community reportedly received a general letter acknowledging the incident, Victoria’s parents say they have not received a direct call or visit from school leadership.

Despite their grief, the family extended thanks to the Rockmart Walmart community and its management, who reached out to offer support and assistance in their time of mourning.

“The family continues to hope that the truth will come out and that justice will be served for Victoria,” they said.

Drone footage reviewed by local outlets shows a house with a pool near the Carlton Farms property, though investigators have not publicly confirmed whether that was the exact site of the drowning. Google Maps images also indicate that multiple nearby properties contain pools, adding complexity to the investigation.

Authorities from the Polk County Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed, and no new details have been released about possible lapses in supervision or site safety.

Victoria’s death has sparked broader discussions online about field trip safety, child supervision, and the responsibility of schools to ensure the protection of every student during off-campus activities.
