Royal fans have taken to social media, claiming they spotted Meghan Markle giving Prince Harry a ‘side-eye’ during their latest interview.
This rare joint appearance marked their first in three years and was part of their initiative to launch The Parent Network, a resource aimed at supporting parents who have lost children due to social media-related issues.
In an emotional conversation with Jane Pauley on CBS Sunday Morning, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussed their personal experiences with loss and mental health.
However, some viewers were quick to pick up on what they perceived as a tense interaction between the couple.
The moment in question occurred when Pauley mentioned:
“Well, you hope that when your children ask for help, someone, you know, is there to give it.”
Harry responded:
“If you know how to help,” with Meghan humming in agreement.
An observant royal fan noted on X:
“Catch that quick side eye Meghan Markle gives Prince Harry when he interrupts. Holy S*** … that’s frightening.”
Another viewer concurred:
“Wonder what she’s worried about. She looks extremely tense.”
A further awkward moment was allegedly noticed when Pauley described the launch as a “modest beginning” and asked about their ambitions for the network. Meghan’s smile at the word “modest” followed by her response, “I think you have to start somewhere,” prompted one user to comment, “Meghan Markle did not like Jane Pauley’s comment about their parent’s group launch being a modest beginning.”
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams weighed in on the couple’s body language during the interview, telling the Express:
“Their body language seemed serious which was appropriate for the topic under discussion.”
The Parent Network aims to provide support and resources to parents grappling with the loss of a child, whether directly or indirectly due to social media.
This initiative is part of Meghan and Harry’s continued efforts to raise awareness about mental health and the impacts of social media on young people.
