In an interview with AfroTech, Barrino expressed her newfound confidence, describing her current state as reminiscent of her American Idol days but with a matured perspective.
She said.
“It feels like ‘Idol’ all over again, except that I’m a woman, and I get it,” she shared. “I’m in a better state of mind. I’m ready for Hollywood now. I was not ready for Hollywood when I was 19.”
Elle reports that Barrino’s eagerness for fresh challenges has led her to explore her passions beyond the entertainment sphere.
The singer-actress has recently earned her sommelier certificate, a testament to her commitment to understanding the intricacies of the wine industry.
“I have a wine coming out. I went back to school, so I got my sommelier certificate because I didn’t want people to think that I was just a Black girl putting my name on a wine to try to make money,” Barrino explained. “I really love the process of it, and I also love to drink it because it’s good. I love the process of wine.”
Barrino’s interest in wine was sparked during a visit to a winery with her husband. Captivated by the winemaking process, she felt a connection between the journey of wine and her own life experiences. The singer-actress is excited about her upcoming venture, revealing plans to launch both a red wine and a rosé.
With a second chance to bring the character of Celie to a new audience and a warm reception from the industry that catapulted her to fame, Fantasia Barrino is showcasing her rebirth in full force.
“This Tasia is different,” she declared, embodying the growth and evolution she has undergone since her early days as an American Idol sensation. As she steps into Hollywood with renewed confidence, Barrino’s foray into the wine industry adds another layer to her multifaceted career.
