Felecia Hatcher, celebrated entrepreneur and CEO of the nonprofit Black Ambition, is encouraging rising founders to listen to their inner voice, silence outside doubts, and make a bold move toward funding their dreams by applying for the 2025 Black Ambition Prize—before the May deadline.
In a recent Instagram post and video, Hatcher shared insights on the importance of self-trust for entrepreneurs, especially when building a business under pressure.
“It’s easy to doubt yourself along the journey,” Hatcher wrote. “It’s even easier to let other people’s opinions cloud your judgment. Trust yourself, trust your vision, and trust the process.”

The Black Ambition Prize, founded by Pharrell Williams, offers capital and resources to Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs launching early-stage ventures in tech, design, consumer products, and healthcare.
Winners can receive up to $1 million in funding, along with access to mentorship, development opportunities, and a powerful peer network.
In her video message, Hatcher stated that trusting one’s gut is critical—especially when faced with the temptation to accept any opportunity just to survive.
“We don’t often take the time to decide what’s actually good for us and what will sustain our business,” she said. “You were the one who had this idea. You’re the one who got the business this far—and you are the one best equipped to take it to the next level.”
She also highlighted the importance of choosing the right people to walk the journey with.
“Make sure they’re not only the right person, but the right person at the right time,” she added. “It’s how we shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.”
Hatcher’s call to action is clear: if you’re a founder with bold ideas and the courage to bet on yourself, don’t miss the chance to apply.
