Gayle King’s son, William “Will” Bumpus Jr., continues to celebrate his recent marriage! On Tuesday, June 25, the CBS News journalist, 69, joyfully shared her excitement about her son’s wedding to Elise Smith earlier this month.
“The @willgb3 & @elisemariesmith wedding celebration continues! They called it WE LOVE because of their initials and their love,” King captioned an Instagram carousel full of festive moments.
Bumpus and Smith tied the knot on June 2, but the couple is still basking in their newlywed bliss.
“The happiest couple on the planet now wanted to celebrate with their friends. Their request? Kicking off the weekend with a good old-fashioned dance party with great music,” King added, thanking DJ Suss One and Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James for the evening’s entertainment.
In the first carousel photo, Bumpus and Smith posed in front of a large floral arrangement at the Terranea Resort, an oceanfront venue on California’s Palos Verdes Peninsula. The second slide featured a video of the couple being welcomed by their guests.
The upload also included a selfie of King with actor David Oyelowo and his wife Jessica Oyelowo. Before concluding the recap, King shared a video of Bumpus and Smith in casual attire, dancing to Beyoncé’s 2011 hit, “Love On Top.”
“It was a WOW moment!” King wrote, promising “more to come.”
Regarding the dance party, King had previously mentioned on a June 4 episode of CBS Mornings that the official wedding was “strictly for family,” but the couple planned a “big dance party for their friends later on.”
King also revealed that the festivities were held at Oprah’s house, with Oprah in attendance. “It’s always nice when she lets us use her house … the prices are very reasonable,” King joked, earning laughs from her colleagues.
In exclusive photos shared with PEOPLE, the newlyweds posed on the beach wearing matching slides featuring their engagement photos. Another photo showed Bumpus twirling his mother on the dance floor.
The bride and groom continued dancing in another Instagram post from King, enjoying Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” with their guests while musician Moses Lin played guitar. Another video captured Bumpus and Smith dancing to Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.”
