Jasmine Crockett Exposes Deliberate Pause on Oversight Hearings on Epstein Files: ‘They Shut it Down’

by Gee NY

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett is alleging that Republican leadership deliberately paused key House Oversight Committee hearings just as lawmakers began making progress in obtaining information tied to the Epstein case, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in Congress.

In a social media post and accompanying video, Crockett claimed that formal hearings were halted after Democrats secured multiple subpoenas related to what she described as an “Epstein cover-up.”

According to her, the committee has since shifted to holding informal “roundtables,” which she criticized as lacking the procedural authority of official hearings, including the absence of sworn testimony and subpoena power.

“The moment accountability shows up, they shut it down,” Crockett said, arguing that the change undermines efforts to gather critical evidence.

The Texas Democrat also took aim at House Republican leadership, including Speaker Mike Johnson and Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, accusing them of obstructing investigative progress.

Crockett contended that the move to roundtables effectively limits Democratic participation and restricts the committee’s ability to compel testimony or documents, thereby slowing momentum on inquiries tied to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and associated allegations.

Republicans have not publicly confirmed Crockett’s characterization of events, and it remains unclear whether the shift in format is temporary or part of a broader procedural strategy.

However, the dispute reflects ongoing partisan tensions over the scope and direction of congressional oversight, particularly in high-profile investigations involving alleged misconduct and institutional accountability.

Crockett stated that the stakes extend beyond political disagreements, pointing to the need for justice for victims connected to the Epstein case.

“The survivors deserve better,” she said, calling for a return to formal hearings with full investigative authority.

The situation continues to unfold as lawmakers debate the appropriate mechanisms for pursuing oversight while balancing procedural control within the House.
