Jayda Cheaves is taking a break from social media and Snapchat earnings this Lenten season to focus on her spiritual growth.
The entrepreneur and influencer announced that she will be stepping away from platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat Monday through Thursday, prioritizing prayer, reflection, and personal hobbies over online activity and income.
In a YouTube video, Jayda Cheaves explained that the cleanse is designed to bring her closer to God. She shared that despite the financial impact, she is committed to using this time to be present and engaged in activities she enjoys, such as painting, cooking, and working out. “Get me closer to Him,” Jayda Cheaves said, noting that the sacrifice allows her to wake up and start her day with prayer before picking up her phone.
Jayda Cheaves admitted that the break has helped her recognize how consumed she had become by social media. She said that when she returns to scrolling on Fridays, she realizes she didn’t miss anything, underscoring the value of stepping back. Snapchat, a major source of her income, will see her temporarily inactive, but she emphasized that her spiritual connection outweighs the financial loss.
“Monday to Thursday, I am not on social media. Which would be considered TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. If you know, you know that Snapchat pays me very well. Honestly, to a position where I can take some time off from making some money.”
Lent, traditionally observed as a period of fasting, reflection, and spiritual discipline, is the perfect opportunity for Jayda Cheaves to slow down, embrace presence, and focus on her faith while pausing the distractions of social media.
