Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama used her podcast to dish out some vital dating advice to her listeners â she says Tinder is not the way to go.
âThere were times that I wanted to push Barack out of the window. And I say that because itâs like, youâve got to know the feelings will be intense. But that doesnât mean you quit,â she said during a recent episode of The Michelle Obama podcast. âAnd these periods can last a long time. They can last years.â
Obama sat down with talk show host, Conan OâBrien, where she bestowed her sage wisdom on what it truly takes to make a marriage work.
âYoung couples, they face these challenges and theyâre ready to give up because they think theyâre broken,â she shared. âAnd I just want to say, look, if that breaks a marriage, then Barack and I have been broken off and on, throughout our marriage, but we have a very strong marriage. And if I had given up on it, if I had walked away from it, in those tough times, then I wouldâve missed all the beauty that was there as well.â
Obama believes that the courting stage in essential in allowing people to view their potential life partners in an âarray of situations.â
âThereâs no magic way to make that happen except getting the basics of finding somebody, being honest about wanting to be with them, to date them seriously, to plan on making a commitment, to date them, seeing where it goes, and then making it happen,â she said. âYou canât Tinder your way into a long-term relationship.â
