Amber Adams, a mother from Oklahoma City, is facing two felony child neglect charges after allegedly attempting to abandon her infant children at a 7-Eleven gas station on June 6, 2024, so she could “go have sex,” according to police.
Authorities say Adams, who appeared heavily intoxicated, planned to leave her children at the station to meet someone for sexual activity.
Incident at 7-Eleven
Witnesses reported that Adams, visibly drunk, pulled into the gas station and removed one of her children—either her 4-month-old or 11-month-old—from the car.
She allegedly handled the child as if they were “a rag doll” and dropped them on the ground. A friend who was in the car with her intervened, putting the child back in the vehicle before Adams attempted to remove the second infant.
After securing both children, Adams drove off, but the witness provided police with a description of her vehicle. Officers located and stopped Adams a few miles away.
Admissions and Erratic Behavior
During questioning, Adams admitted to drinking wine and tequila earlier that evening.
She told police her plan was to leave the children at the gas station and send their father a location pin so he could pick them up.
Adams said she intended to visit another person for what she described as “slingy sling,” which she clarified meant “to go have sex.”
Authorities also discovered that Adams had falsely claimed her 6-year-old child had jumped out of the car, leading to a frantic search. The child was later found safe with a family member.
Social Media Post and Legal Action
After being initially released without formal charges, Adams drew further attention by posting on social media that she planned to sell T-shirts featuring her mug shot for $10 each. On July 17, 2024, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Adams was released on a $50,000 bond.
Concerns Over Child Welfare
The case has sparked outrage and concern about the safety of Adams’ children.
Her alleged actions highlight the importance of addressing child neglect and ensuring robust protections for vulnerable children.
