Candace Owens, a polarizing political commentator, is facing widespread backlash following comments about Israel and Jewish people that many have deemed antisemitic.

Laurie Cardoza-Moore, president of the nonprofit Proclaiming Justice to The Nations, has strongly criticized Owens, urging churches to “close the door” on her and condemning her remarks as “blind Jew-hatred.”

Condemnation from Christian Leaders

Cardoza-Moore expressed her disappointment in a statement to The Jerusalem Post in late November, calling Owens’ views “a lethal cocktail of conspiracy theories and heresy.”

She added that Owens’ rhetoric is rooted in “historical Christian antisemitism” and represents a significant departure from her earlier public persona.

“The Candace Owens we once knew is no longer there,” said Cardoza-Moore. “She has no substance beyond her repugnant, unfounded, and obsessive hate for God’s Chosen People. There is no place for her anywhere in the Conservative Christian world.”

Cardoza-Moore further criticized Owens for what she called a “violation of God’s word,” adding, “The Bible is Zionist. Abraham was the first Jew to move to Israel on God’s invitation.”

International Fallout

Owens’ remarks have also drawn international consequences. Both New Zealand and Australia recently denied her entry for speaking engagements, citing past comments she made about Nazi experiments on Jews, which she dismissed as “bizarre propaganda.”

These incidents followed Owens’ controversial claims in her independent podcast, Candace, where she accused Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians during its response to the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack. That attack claimed nearly 1,200 lives in southern Israel.

In a November 2023 interview with Jewish comedian Ami Kozak, Owens compared the division of quarters in Jerusalem to Jim Crow policies in the United States, a comparison Kozak refuted.

Split from The Daily Wire

Amid the growing controversy, Owens and conservative media outlet The Daily Wire parted ways. The decision came after an online altercation with author Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, during which Owens liked a tweet that accused Boteach of being “drunk on Christian blood,” a stereotype rooted in antisemitic tropes.

Churches Called to Act

Cardoza-Moore urged Christians to take a stand against Owens, emphasizing the importance of rejecting antisemitism in all forms.

“Christians must banish people like Candace Owens from all churches,” she stated.

Owens has not publicly addressed the recent wave of criticism, but her comments and actions continue to spark intense debate, both within religious communities and on the global stage.
