The LSU and Thibodaux communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, who died by suicide on April 12, 2025.
In an emotional social media message, his mother, Kandace Faye, publicly expressed her grief and gratitude, thanking supporters and asking for continued prayers.
“There are no words to fully express the pain our family is feeling right now,” Kandace wrote. “We feel the love, and we need it now more than ever.”

The message was posted alongside a GoFundMe link created to help honor Kyren’s memory and support his family during this incredibly difficult time. The fundraiser — titled In Loving Memory of Kyren Lacy — describes the LSU graduate as a proud son of Thibodaux, Louisiana, known not only for his talent on the football field but also for his kindness, strength, and humility.
Kyren had recently graduated from Louisiana State University and had become a standout member of the LSU Tigers football team. His death has shaken his teammates, coaches, fans, and hometown supporters, many of whom have taken to social media to share memories, tributes, and messages of love.
In her message, Kandace acknowledged the outpouring of calls, texts, and heartfelt notes:
“I see your texts, your words of love, and your offers of support. It means more than I can say.”

She concluded with a plea for ongoing prayers and unity: “Please continue to keep us in your prayers.”
