Whether you love Coi Leray’s music or not, one thing that cannot be denied is her positive attitude and copious levels of confidence.

Coi Leray has faced criticism about her rapping skills, her live performance abilities and even her slimline figure.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, the XXL Freshman says the hate only makes her greater.

“I swear, people keep notifications on me just so they can hate on my performance, my body, my braces,” she says. “But it all works perfectly with my promo plan,” she adds, flashing a glittery, impish smile. “Run the views up!”

Leray says the goal is to constantly elevate — and she’s prepared to do what it takes to reach the top while staying true to her core.

“I wanna challenge myself,” the “Big Purr” rapper tells the publication.

“I wouldn’t mind being a pop girl.” Still, Leray resists comparisons to other female performers, pop or hip-hop. “I’m so confident in who I am that I don’t look at nobody as competition. I could be in a room with anybody and [not] feel like they’re overshadowing me. I write my own music. I’m not a hundred percent where I want to be, but I’ve gotten better because I’m growing up.”

The rapper, who is the daughter of rapper and television star Benzino, quit her sales gig in 2018 to release her mixtape “Every Thing CoZ” in 2018. The tape spawned several indie hits and propelled her determination to succeed in the rap game.

“Besides the music, I got so many other things on my list that need to get done,” she says. “I invented a baby hair brush. I want to open an aquarium in New Jersey. I want to buy my mom a car. She’s such a good woman, I want to make it so she won’t ever have to work again.
