Reginae Carter, daughter of legendary rapper Lil Wayne, took to social media to express her frustration over her father’s apparent snub from the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The Super Bowl will be in New Orleans this year. And Kendrick Lamar will headline the halftime show.

It will be the Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning artist’s second time performing at one of music’s most prestigious events, but his first as the main act.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced Sunday that Lamar will host the halftime show from the Caesars Superdome on February 9. The 17-time Grammy winner expressed excitement about bringing hip-hop to the NFL championship game, where he performed as a guest artist alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Eminem in 2022.

However, some people believe that Lil Wayne, a native of New Orleans, should have been selected for the show.

Fans argue that Wayne’s iconic status, numerous chart-topping singles, and influence on modern rap make him an ideal candidate for the coveted performance stage.

Adding fuel to the fire, Wayne’s long-time engineer recently revealed that Jay-Z, who consults with the NFL on Halftime Show artists, never contacted the New Orleans rapper about the event.

Shortly after this information hit the internet, Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter, chipped in with a cryptic post on her X.

Her fiery post read, “fiery message, writing, “They envy greatness!!!!”

The post quickly sparked debate among fans, with many believing Reginae was shading the NFL’s decision to overlook her father, a multi-platinum rapper from New Orleans, for the prestigious Halftime performance slot.

“Yup, the Super Bowl won’t be getting my coins. We wanted Wayne. I’m so disappointed,” a fan wrote.

“1. We know he’s a legend. He just wasn’t selected 2. You can say that whole also recognizing Kendrick is carving out a successful career himself,” another fan pointed out.

Lil Wayne has yet to respond publicly to the situation.
