On June 18, rapper Remy Ma’s 23-year-old son was arrested and charged with murder for a 2021 killing.
New information has surfaced in the murder investigation involving Remy Ma’s son, Jayson Scott.
According to the New York Police Department, Jayson Scott was arrested on June 18 on charges of first and second-degree murder, criminal weapon possession, and reckless endangerment.
Police said that Jayson Scott and 22-year-old Richard Swygert, the other suspect, were charged in connection with the shooting death of Darius Guillebeaux on June 7, 2021.
According to reports, officers responded to a 911 call about a male shot at the intersection of 148 Street and Rockaway Boulevard.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 47-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest,” the police statement read.
“EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.”
Guillebeaux suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was transferred to a local Queens hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Just eight months before the shooting, the New York attorney general indicted Guillebeaux as part of a large-scale drug operation. The investigation, dubbed “Operation Heat Wave,” led to the arrests of 54 people accused of trafficking heroin, fentanyl, and oxycodone for sale in upstate Jefferson County.
Jayson “Jace” Scott, Remy Ma’s son, appeared in court on Tuesday, June 25, after being charged with Darius Guillebeaux’s murder a week earlier.
According to ABC7 New York, the 23-year-old was charged with seven counts of murder, along with an accomplice, in the 2021 shooting death of Darius Guillebeaux, 47.
The outlet reports Scott was charged with first and second-degree murder, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
According to PEOPLE, a rep for Remy Ma issued a statement PEOPLE after the rapper’s son’s arrest.
“As many have heard, Remy Ma’s son, Jayson Scott, was recently arrested, and very serious unfounded allegations have been made. Remy Ma wished to address this situation personally but has been strongly advised by our office not to say anything publicly.
“To be clear, Jayson Scott is innocent, and Remy Ma is committed to proving his innocence and fully supporting her child during this time.”
