The Power of Vision: Edwina Findley Shares How Her Vision Book Manifested Her Real Life On Oprah

by Gee NY

Vision boards are often described as “a preview for coming attractions,” but actress Edwina Findley believes they can be much more.

In a recent episode of The Oprah Podcast, Findley shared how creating what she called a “vision book” helped her set goals, attract opportunities, and ultimately see her dreams materialize in uncanny detail.

During the conversation, Oprah Winfrey asked Findley what she included in her vision practice. Unlike many who use a single poster board, Findley explained that she compiled an entire book — filled with affirmations, role models, and images that represented the lifestyle she wanted to create.

“I was a very single girl, just got out of college, had no money,” Findley recalled. “But I just felt like this was my opportunity to chart my life.”

One of the most striking examples of manifestation came from her “marriage” page. Findley cut out a magazine image of a light-skinned Black man with a bald head, reclining in a white T-shirt with a baby on his chest. Years later, she found herself walking into her daughter’s nursery only to see her husband — who fit that exact description — asleep in the same position, wearing a white T-shirt, with their baby resting on him.

“When I saw it, I said, ‘Oh my… wait, but that’s in my vision book,’” Findley told Oprah. “That’s how I realized that vision boards and vision books are not just ‘woo woo.’ There can be prophetic significance. Through prophecy, it’s a preview of coming attraction.”

Vision boards and books have gained mainstream popularity as tools for personal development and manifestation, embraced by entrepreneurs, creatives, and wellness advocates alike.

Experts in psychology often note that visualization helps clarify goals, reinforces motivation, and can shape decision-making behaviors — a combination that makes people more likely to achieve what they imagine.

Findley’s story adds a deeply personal dimension to the practice, illustrating how faith, creativity, and intention can intersect in meaningful ways.

For Oprah, who has long promoted intentional living, the testimony resonated with her message of aligning purpose with action.

The episode also underscores why vision-setting continues to inspire millions worldwide as a method of focus, clarity, and belief in what’s possible.
