by Yah Yah

Tina Farris is the current tour manager for Chris Rock and an all-around badass! During her illustrious career, Farris has managed tours for some of your favorite entertainers, boasting a resume that would make the many industry professionals blush!

The list of clients includes legendary soul singer D’Angelo, international superstar Nicki Minaj, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, the Black Eyed Peas and Young Money boss Lil Wayne.

She has also just been confirmed as management for Solange‘s last tour.

In a recent interview with TheRoot.com, Farris speaks about her new nonprofit organization, Decadesa global network and cross-generational mentoring series, connecting women to create an infinite pipeline of resources and information. The project was inspired by her longtime friend, mentor, and prominent music executive Vivian Scott Chew.

There is no room for the infamous “crabs in a barrel” industry mentality with Farris. She wants everybody to win and Decades is all about building, networking and sharing knowledge.

“I wanted to develop discussion and support system[s] for women. Decades is a woman’s movement that passes information from one generation to the next, and helping women rise through the ups and downs of life,” Farris told The Root. “What’s missing for some women is having someone to call and check in on them. Interventions, so to speak. There’s never been something cross-generationally that speaks to women. You’re missing the language and information that people can pass on.”

In the interview, Farris also details her career in tour management and shares how she began working with comedian Chris Rock. Click here to read the entire interview.
