Tina Knowles is setting the record straight after Mathew Knowles sparked a conversation about her role in shaping Destiny’s Child.

The fashion designer and businesswoman shared a video highlighting her contributions to the legendary girl group following a viral interview moment in which her ex-husband questioned what work she had done for the group.

The moment began during an interview Mathew Knowles gave to PIX11. While discussing his career and legacy in the music industry, anchor Kendis Gibson brought up the success of Destiny’s Child and acknowledged the work both Mathew and Tina Knowles had put into helping the group reach global fame.

“You’ve earned your flowers. I said the same thing to Ms. Tina Knowles. You guys put in the work, and obviously the talent was there, with your kids and your grandkids,” Gibson said during the conversation.

Mr. Knowles responded by asking, “What work did she put in?”

The comment appeared to catch Gibson off guard. The anchor quickly reminded him of Ms. Tina’s involvement with the group’s presentation and image, mentioning her work on their hair.

“Ok, you’re absolutely right, and the styling. The imaging. You’re right,” Mathew Knowles acknowledged. Shortly afterward, he stood up and ended the interview, saying, “We’ll stop now,” leaving Gibson to ask if he had said something wrong.

The clip quickly circulated online and sparked conversation among fans who have long credited Tina Knowles with helping shape Destiny’s Child’s visual identity during the group’s early years.

Not long after the interview made headlines, Tina Knowles appeared to respond in her own way. She posted a video montage on Instagram highlighting her design portfolio and the custom outfits she created for Destiny’s Child throughout the group’s rise to fame. The video featured a series of coordinated looks worn by the members during performances, photo shoots, and public appearances.

Fans filled the comments praising Ms. Tina’s influence and acknowledging her role in creating the group’s signature style.

Following the online reaction, Mathew Knowles addressed the situation and said his comments had been misrepresented. Speaking with Page Six, he explained that he believes Tina contributed far more than what was suggested in the clip and said he had been responding to the interviewer’s narrow description of her work.

According to Mr. Knowles, he was pushing back on the idea that Ms. Tina’s involvement was limited to hair styling. He said she played a larger role that included styling and image development.

Mr. Knowles also addressed why the interview ended abruptly. He said the conversation began on a difficult note because Gibson arrived late and focused much of the questioning on his former wife rather than his career.

“How it starts is how it ends. It started on a bad note, and obviously ended on a bad note for him,” Mathew told the outlet, adding that he ended the interview politely before leaving.

Tina Knowles has long been recognized as a creative force behind Destiny’s Child’s early image. In addition to styling the group’s hair, she designed many of their coordinated stage outfits and helped develop the visual identity that became closely associated with the trio during their rise in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
