LA singer-songwriter Tish Hyman has made headlines after her membership at Gold’s Gym in Los Angeles was revoked following a heated encounter regarding a man in the women’s locker room.
The 42-year-old Bronx native, recognized for her poignant storytelling and powerful singing, took to social media to express her perspective on the incident and stands firm in her position.
In a widely circulated video, Hyman is seen confronting gym staff after a tense interaction with another member. “I’m a woman, and I have every right not to want a man in the restroom when I’m naked!” she passionately exclaimed in the clip, clearly distressed. “There are girls naked in there!”
Hyman asserts that this was not just a one-time incident. She claims that she and several other women at the gym had previously filed numerous complaints about the same individual before this confrontation. “They ignored our complaints,” she later shared on Instagram. “Gold’s Gym ignored our safety and revoked my membership instead of protecting us.”
As the situation escalated in the now-viral footage, Hyman pointed out the person she was concerned about, urging the gym to take action. “Stay outta the women’s locker room! We don’t want it!” she expressed, exasperated. Despite her pleas, the individual walked back into the women’s locker room, leaving Hyman and others in disbelief.
Shortly thereafter, Hyman reports that she was taken to the front desk and informed that her membership had been terminated. She also claims that the gym’s management deleted a video of the incident that might have shed light on what transpired.
The response has been swift. Within 24 hours of the incident, Gold’s Gym’s Los Angeles location reportedly faced a barrage of one-star Google reviews, many of which referenced Hyman’s experience. Some reviewers are demanding accountability, while others accuse the gym of discrimination.
As of now, Gold’s Gym, which was recently acquired by EoS Fitness, has yet to issue an official statement.
