7-Year-Old Sa’Moryia Farley Fights For Her Life After Being Hit By Car

A St. Paul family is reeling after 7-year-old Sa’Moryia Farley was critically injured in a tragic accident on July 16 while walking to a nearby store with her siblings and cousins.

The young girl is currently in a medically induced coma at a local hospital, undergoing surgery and receiving intensive care as her loved ones rally for support.

According to Georgia Fort, a nationally recognized independent journalist and advocate, emergency responders performed CPR at the scene before rushing Sa’Moryia to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Her mother, Shamika Stroud, has remained by her bedside ever since, while trying to provide for her five other children at home.

A GoFundMe campaign launched by the family has now raised over $24,000 toward an updated goal of \$50,000 to help cover medical costs, transportation, food, bills, and ongoing support for the other children while Sa’Moryia remains hospitalized.

“Both my daughter Sa’Moryia and I will need to be in the hospital for several months,” Stroud wrote in an emotional campaign update. “It’s an incredibly difficult time, and there are a lot of unexpected expenses that have come up.”

The family says Sa’Moryia will require special care and equipment once she’s discharged, and they’re doing everything they can to prepare for her long-term recovery.

Community members across Minnesota and beyond have responded with prayers, donations, and messages of encouragement. Social media has amplified the story, with thousands sharing the fundraiser and calling for continued support as the family navigates this medical and emotional crisis.
