British rap star Stefflon Don recently opened up about her past conflict with Nicki Minaj, revealing that it was sparked by her reaction to Minaj’s collaboration with Migos, featuring Cardi B.
In an interview with GRM Daily, Stefflon explained:
“Nicki did a song with Cardi B and Migos, and at the time, I felt her verse could have been stronger because she was with Cardi. I love both Cardi and Nicki, but I was rooting for Nicki to outshine Cardi in a friendly, competitive way. I expressed my opinion as a fan, not realizing the weight my words carried as Stefflon Don.”
In 2018, Stefflon Don commented on The Shade Room, criticizing Minaj’s behavior online, saying,:
“@Nickiminaj ur a big grown woman talking about beating someone’s head in???? QUEEN???? I’m disappointed in you so many people look up to you show us better.”
She also clapped back at Minaj’s fans, writing:
“Do i look like a puppet Bitches wanna act like they 10 n yes i will say something about it. YES i said i am DISAPPOINTED in her yyyy because the gal old enough to be someones grandmother. Got something coming for these dutty GARBS i mean Barbs soon.”
Reflecting on the incident, Stefflon Don admitted she underestimated her influence.
“Nicki’s fans started attacking me on Twitter, and I defended myself by mentioning her name. It wasn’t about her, but I brought her into it. That was my mistake,” she confessed. “I didn’t realize it would blow up the way it did, but it was a learning experience.”
When asked if she chose sides in the ongoing feud between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, Stefflon Don clarified:
“No, I don’t think people should look at it like that.”
Stefflon Don also addressed her recent clash with Jada Kingdom. Six months ago, Jada confronted Stefflon Don online over lyrics in a teaser for her song “Don Cullinan,” which fans speculated were aimed at Jada or Stefflon’s former manager.
“At the beginning, it was like, ‘Why are you coming for me?’ You have my number,” Stefflon recalled. “It was just the right day, and my engineer was in the studio. We used to be cool.”
The feud escalated with a series of diss tracks and online exchanges. Despite the tensions, Stefflon Don now wishes Jada Kingdom well but sees no need for reconciliation.
“Of course, I didn’t care. We were never friends. We linked once or twice,” she admitted. When asked about rekindling their relationship, she responded, “There is nothing to rekindle.”
Stefflon Don explained that the root of their conflict might have been over a delayed collaboration:
“We stopped talking because she asked me to jump on a tune, and I took long anyway. The producer wanted me on her song as well, and I took long and sent her my fee. Sometimes I am all over the place.”
Following the clash, Jada Kingdom scored her first number one song with “What’s Up (Big Buddy),” produced by Rvssian, topping Apple Music Jamaica.
Stefflon Don concluded:
“I wish her all the best in her career. I feel like she is a dope artist. It’s really not that deep.”
