Twitter rallied around Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion after the rapper revealed that she had been shot in the foot over the weekend.
Thee Stallion announced via her Instagram account in a bid to quell false rumors circulating that she had been arrested and that her injury because she stepped on broken glass.
“On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me,” she wrote via her social media page.
“I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets. I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.”
Video of Thee Stallion at a party in the Hollywood Hills alongside Kylie Jenner and singer Tory Lanez had been uploaded to social media hours before the incident occurred.
Later it was revealed that Lanez had been arrested on a felony gun charge. Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson), 27, was arrested for a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
Lanez was released on bail but is yet to address the issue publicly.
Twitter was up in arms over the “Captain Hook” rapper’s injuries. Meg is known for being upbeat and drama-free. Her statement implies that the shooting was intentional, but her fans remain in a state of disbelief.
