Cardi B recently found herself defending her support for Vice President Kamala Harris after political commentator Candace Owens questioned whether Cardi’s involvement with a Harris campaign event was financially motivated.

Ahead of Election Day, the Grammy-winning rapper delivered a fiery speech that lasted nearly 10 minutes, as her endorsement of Kamala Harris’s presidential race at the Democrat’s Milwaukee rally.

As she read a speech, she wrote from an iPhone, sipping on water, she said, “I do not take lightly the call to show up, the call to speak up, the call to deliver a message that has been on my heart for a hot minute now…”

Cardi B continued: “Just like Kamala Harris, I, too, have been the underdog. I have been underestimated, my success belittled and discredited. Women have to work ten times harder and perform ten times better, and still, people question how we got to the top.”

Alias Kamala Harris lost the election.

On Thursday, Candace Owens tweeted, “Hey @iamcardib— Working on a story and was wondering if you were in any way paid to speak at the Kamala campaign event you spoke at. Thanks in advance!”

Cardi B wasted no time setting the record straight, clapping back with her signature flair. “I didn’t get paid a dollar, and that’s on my three!! I actually came out of pocket for glam and travel because it’s somewhere I wanted to be,” she wrote. Adding her trademark wit, Cardi continued, “Like please, girl, you know damn well I’ll argue you down about politics FOR FREE.”

Owens replied more apologetically, “Okay, thanks for the response! I didn’t see your name in the report, so I wanted to tweet and ask.”

The right-leaning political commentator isn’t the sole person to target Cardi B. Earlier this month, the “WAP” hitmaker responded to Elon Musk after he remarked on her for a teleprompter error at Kamala Harris’s campaign event. At the rally in Milwaukee, a problem with the teleprompter caused a delay in Cardi’s speech, and she had to use her phone.

“Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words,” the tech billionaire wrote on his platform. “The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”

“I’m not a puppet,” Cardi B responded. “I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you.”

But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle,” she added.
