Jasmine Phinex, a full-time teacher and entrepreneur, has turned a bonding moment with her young daughter Serenity into a thriving business.
During the pandemic, Serenity’s love for nail painting inspired Phinex to launch Serenity Nail Polish, a line of vegan, non-toxic, and child-safe nail products.
Co-founded by Jasmine, her husband James, and their daughter Serenity, the family-run business officially launched in Feb. 2021.
Serenity, now four years old, holds the title of CEO, symbolizing the family’s commitment to building generational wealth.
The company offers a range of products, including gel polishes, nail kits, UV lamps, and polish removers. All items are free from harmful chemicals like formaldehyde and toluene, prioritizing safety for children and adults alike.
“Whatever it is that you do, once it’s your purpose, keep walking in your purpose no matter what,” said Phinex, who invested stimulus money and $8,000 in savings to start the venture.
Despite challenges securing funding, she remains determined to expand her brand and leave a lasting legacy for her daughter.
The next step for Serenity Nail Polish includes opening a kids’ nail salon and spa focused on mental health and pampering.
“Our children are the future. They deserve care and attention just as much as adults,” Phinex said.
In addition to growing her business, Phinex is dedicated to teaching financial literacy to young Black children, including Serenity, who actively participates in the business.
“She is a true CEO,” Phinex said proudly.
The company’s mission aligns with promoting creativity, self-expression, and safe beauty practices for all ages, making Serenity Nail Polish a standout in the cosmetics industry.
