Alvionna Brewster’s Black Nurse Entrepreneurs Is Redefining Healthcare and Business Success

by Gee NY

In a groundbreaking effort to empower Black nurses and revolutionize healthcare, Alvionna Brewster, MSN-Ed, RN, has transformed her vision into a thriving network of over 23,000 African American nurses.

Since its inception in 2015, Black Nurse Entrepreneurs (BNE) has redefined what it means to be a nurse, providing a safe and collaborative space for innovation, entrepreneurship, and community impact.

Brewster’s network has become a force of transformation, blending professional autonomy with business acumen to help nurses break barriers, improve healthcare access, and build generational wealth.

Building a Legacy of Impact

“BNE is more than a community—it’s a transformative experience,” said Brewster.

Under her leadership, BNE has empowered its members to create 6-, 7-, and 8-figure businesses, fundamentally challenging traditional healthcare delivery. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these entrepreneurial nurses expanded access to critical care services, directly contributing to reduced mortality rates in underserved communities.

By promoting culturally competent care and encouraging nurses to embrace entrepreneurship, BNE has addressed systemic disparities in healthcare, particularly in areas disproportionately affecting Black populations.

Upcoming Events and New Horizons

With a renewed focus on growth, BNE plans to relaunch in-person events, fostering deeper connections within the community. A new coaching program, aimed at equipping nurses with tools to thrive as entrepreneurs, is already showing promise in developing future leaders.

“These milestones are just the beginning,” Brewster emphasized. “Our work is about pushing boundaries, creating wealth, and inspiring the next generation to lead with compassion, competence, and courage.”

Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship

At its core, Black Nurse Entrepreneurs is a platform for empowerment and education. The organization equips nurses to not only transform healthcare outcomes locally but to extend their impact globally.
