A rising model who was making a name for herself in the beauty industry was fatally shot over a parking spot in Brooklyn Saturday, police has confirmed.

Twenty-six-year-old Imani Sharpless succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head days after the shooting. The incident took place on Nostrand Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.

According to multiple sources, Sharpless was with her boyfriend when they got involved in a heated exchange with the suspect, who fired several shots at the couple’s car as they attempted to leave the scene. Sharpless was found with a gunshot wound to the head, while her boyfriend was shot in the knee. Following the shooting, the victim’s boyfriend stopped on Myrtle Avenue and called the police.

According to a friend of Sharpless, she had “so much to live for,” adding that the shooting was “senseless.” The friend spoke on the record in anonymity.

The suspect is still on the loose, authorities said. The assailant was last seen wearing a red hat, white T-shirt and black jeans, police confirmed.

A Pix11 report is asking that anyone with tips leading to an arrest call “Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. According to the NYPD,the department remains “focused on eradicating gun violence in every neighborhood, and March 2023 saw reductions in shooting incidents in each of New York City’s five boroughs, led by a 39.5% decrease in the Bronx (23 v. 38) and a 29.4% decrease in Manhattan (12 v. 17).”

The report added: “This trend is further reflected in the data for the first quarter of 2023, with reductions led again by the Bronx down 41.2% (60 v. 102) and Manhattan down 19.2% (42 v. 52). The reduction in shooting incidents further led to a citywide decrease in shooting victims, with a drop of 23.7% in March 2023 compared to March 2022 (100 v. 131). This extended the 17.5% decrease in citywide shooting victims over the first three months of 2023 compared to the same period last year (268 v. 325).”
