Ouch! It looks like Meghan Markle’s foray back into the podcasting world might be hitting a snag. Despite launching her new female empowerment podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” earlier this month, reports are surfacing that landing A-list guests is proving to be a major challenge.
Earlier this month, Meghan dropped her latest podcast under Lemonada Media, with ambitions to spotlight inspiring women who’ve built empires, faced setbacks, and kept going. It’s a solid concept. But here’s the problem: the names just aren’t delivering the punch.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Meghan and her team allegedly reached out to the likes of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and even Hailey Bieber to grace the mic. The result? Crickets.
Instead of the “red carpet royalty” listeners were teased with, the first three episodes featured Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of Bumble, Reshma Saujani of Girls Who Code, and Kadi Lee, Meghan’s longtime friend and hair colorist.
“She’s dialed all the big names, but no one’s picked up, and the absence of high-profile guests in the lineup is raising eyebrows,” the source continued. “There’s no Taylor Swift. No Beyoncé. Not even a Hailey Bieber. And when you’re pitching female empowerment, that’s a problem. It speaks volumes about her pulling power. She’s not happy about her lack of appeal.”
“This is a show crying out for relevance, and it’s just not landing,” the insider said. And it’s not just about ego. In a podcast world dominated by familiar voices and headline-making guests, star power matters, especially when your previous podcast (Archetypes) ended in a high-profile fallout with Spotify and a top executive labeled the Sussexes “grifters.”
To complicate matters, Meghan used one episode to reflect on her postpartum experience, share old photos, and even take a light jab at the royal family. That’s the kind of tea people tune in for.
But can that alone carry a show that was pitched as an empowering platform for female founders?
Probably not. And that’s the risk. Without A-list buzz, Confessions of a Female Founder risks becoming another brand extension for Meghan’s As Ever lifestyle venture, raspberry spreads and all, but without the star-studded shine to back it.
So, will Meghan course-correct? Or will this podcast fade into the same quiet corner Spotify left behind?
