Courtney Adeleye has made history as the first Black person to successfully launch two distinct hair care brands in major retail, with her latest brand, Watch & Sea Beauty, now available in Walmart stores nationwide.
The announcement comes following the continued success of The Mane Choice, the hair care line Adeleye founded and grew into a $100 million company before its acquisition.
Watch & Sea Beauty, Adeleye’s second brand, is a plant-based, ocean-derived, and science-driven hair care line. Its nationwide Walmart launch marks a historic milestone in the beauty industry, solidifying Adeleye’s position as a trailblazer for Black women entrepreneurs in retail.
Before her entrepreneurial ventures, Adeleye gained recognition as a YouTube creator under the name “CourtneyNaturalHair” and worked as a registered nurse. Over the years, she has focused on expanding hair care options for textured hair, creating products that combine science-backed ingredients with natural formulations.
In addition to her success with The Mane Choice and Watch & Sea Beauty, Adeleye continues to empower other women entrepreneurs through Olbali, a direct-selling wellness company she launched in 2020. Olbali allows consumers to shop a variety of products, including coffee, organic pH-balancing sanitary products, and multivitamins, while also providing the opportunity to sell these items as direct-selling associates. During Black Business Month, Adeleye shared how she built her businesses and is now helping others create their own entrepreneurial journeys.
With the launch of Watch & Sea Beauty in Walmart, Adeleye has solidified her place as a pioneering figure in the beauty industry, combining innovation, representation, and empowerment for Black women in business.
