When it comes to loyalty, Brooke Bailey isn’t one to play it safe. The Basketball Wives alum recently opened up about her friendship with Nicki Minaj and how that friendship naturally came with inheriting Nicki’s high-profile feud with Cardi B.
The conflicts between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have been escalating for a few years.
Everything likely started with Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow” release in our original Nicki-Cardi feud timeline. The following fan and media excitement around the song resulted in it becoming the first track by a solo female rap artist to scale the Billboard Hot 100 chart since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
Through shady interviews and sneak disses, the rappers waged a cold war. Then, at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week, images and footage of a physical confrontation between Cardi and Nicki’s teams spread online.
In a candid interview, Brooke didn’t mince words about where her loyalties lie regarding the Nicki-Cardi feud.
The “Basketball Wives” star recently appeared on the TFU podcast, where she was questioned about whether she engages in the conflict her close friend Nicki Minaj has with others, particularly Cardi B.
During the sit-down, the interviewer posed a loaded question: “Did you inherit the beef that [Nicki] has with Cardi B?”
Brooke’s response was unapologetically direct. “I mean, do you beef with your friend’s frenemies, or do you stay neutral?” she began before elaborating on her stance.
“I’m a very loyal person,” Brooke explained. “So, I would feel a way if I had a serious beef with somebody about some serious shit, and my friends that I’m close with, that I confide in, that I talk to, if they still have a relationship with that person or they stay neutral, I don’t want to be friends with that. I care if it’s some real-life stuff going on. Pick a side. Pick a side. What’s the issue?”
The candid remarks have sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans praising Brooke for her fierce loyalty to Nicki Minaj and others questioning whether it’s fair to inherit someone else’s battles.
The Nicki Minaj and Cardi B feud has been one of the most publicized rivalries in modern hip-hop, with both artists trading subliminal (and not-so-subliminal) shots over the years. From accusations of ghostwriting to online spats, the beef shows no signs of cooling down.
As Brooke Bailey said, “Pick a side. Pick a side.” And clearly, she’s chosen hers.
